Pale Wah – A Voice for Her People, A Heart for Her Homeland

From refugee life in Finland to the frontlines of Karenni State, Pale Wah has never forgotten where she came from — and she has never stopped working for the people who still live that reality every day.

In 2011, she arrived in Finland, carrying not only the weight of her past, but the determination to create a better future. By 2021, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care — but her education wasn’t limited to books. In her free time, she became a volunteer interpreter, a community organizer, and a fundraiser for Karenni people back home, working side-by-side with her family and her team.

Her leadership soon took root. Today, she serves as the Chairperson of the Karenni Society in Finland, where she organizes youth gatherings, educates others about Karenni history, current struggles, and culture, and keeps the flame of identity and pride alive for the next generation.

But Pale Wah is not someone who leads from afar.

In 2023, she traveled to visit Karenni Refugee Camps 1 and 2, delivering aid to Daw Noe Ku IDPs and injured heroes. And in 2025, she stepped foot inside Karenni State itself — not as a visitor, but as a committed daughter of the land. She met with local leaders, provided direct assistance to IDPs, supported injured soldiers, and stood beside the wives and children of fallen heroes.

With her own hands, she delivered first aid supplies, medical essentials, and malaria medication to those in the most vulnerable corners of Karenni.
