Today marks a truly historic moment of hope for our Karenni brothers and sisters who have lived in the refugee camps for decades.

Karenni Vision has learned that refugees officially registered under UNHCR are now eligible to work legally in Thailand. This life-changing opportunity opens a new path of dignity, independence, and stability for families who have long lived in uncertainty.

As of today, around 80–100 refugees from Karenni Refugee Camp 2 have completed registration and are preparing to begin employment with Thai companies — a promising first step toward a brighter future for all Karenni refugees.

Even more inspiring, 10,000 new job opportunities are expected to open in the coming months — especially in the agriculture sector — providing hope for many more Karenni refugees to work, support their loved ones, and build a better life.

Guidelines for Refugees Who Wish to Apply

Those who wish to work in Thailand must:

1. Be officially recognized and registered under UNHCR.

2. Register their names with the Ministry of Employment in Thailand, where they will receive official work permits allowing them to work legally in approved sectors.

3. Once approved, they can be matched with available job openings — starting with roles in agriculture and related sectors.
