Karenni Vision: From Refugee to Financial Freedom Advocate — Joseph Ngereh (USA)

From a humble beginning in a refugee camp to becoming a financial professional and community leader, Joseph Ngereh’s journey is one of faith, perseverance, and service.

Born in Karenni State, Joseph’s childhood was shaped by conflict and displacement. At only nine years old, he fled from one village to another, searching for safety. Life in the refugee camp tested his endurance — but it also strengthened his purpose. Despite limited opportunities, he graduated from the Karenni Post Ten Arts & Science School, a beacon of hope for many young refugees.

With the support of his family, the Karenni leadership, and UNHCR, Joseph was resettled to the United States in 2009. His first job was in housekeeping and dishwashing at a five-star hotel — a modest start that reflected his determination to rebuild.

Through hard work and curiosity, he became a cellphone technician, and later an interpreter for the Dallas Independent School District, hospitals, and legal institutions. In 2016, he earned an Associate of Arts in Science (Business Administration) and founded a tax service business, supporting hundreds of families in their financial planning and filing.

By 2022, Joseph became a licensed financial professional, teaching families across America about insurance, investment, and education planning — helping them move from financial insecurity to independence. As a Registered Social Security Analyst (RSSA), he now advises retirees on how to maximize their benefits.

Beyond his career, Joseph has never stopped giving back. He volunteered with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) and today serves as President of DEEKU (Karenni Community of Texas), advocating for refugee rights, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment.
